Wesak Full Moon 2009 and Mercury Retrograde

Full Moon May 2009

The ancient ceremony of Wesak, began in the East, in Tibet. Wesak is a celebration of the birth, the enlightenment, and the death of Buddha all of which occurred during the full moon of Taurus.

Nowadays, many Buddhist groups are still celebrating Wesak; during this old rite they give the public the opportunity to learn the teachings of Lord Buddha, and realize the existence of a Higher Brotherhood and the close link some can have.

The festival of Wesak ( named after a valley in Tibet ), is able to unify both eastern and western spirituality. It is said, that Christ and Buddha, are present, together, during this sacred ceremony, to signify the strong, unifying, link, between the two divines.

The main aim of the festival is to let know, to the world, the teachings of the Lord Buddha, and to evoke the spirit of Peace on earth.

Since the year 1946 this ceremony had spread in the western world, too.

The focus of the Wesak in Taurus, lies in three major steps, three keys to the world-development, if we want to go further in social evolution:

a) the Unity, it means we must be able to find the hidden consciousness in any living thing.
b)the uncovering of the new vision of “group-awareness”, the task of the Aquarian Age.
c)the discovery in ourselves, of the Heart, as an instrument of spiritual synthesis.

The Heart chakra, represents much more than the usual sentiment with which we are accustomed.
It is an higher state; with Its help, we should be able to live out brotherhood in each encounter we have. Perhaps, this brother, is needing you.. What can I do to help him?

The Heart doesn’t look after Itself, instead Its focus is to take out the best in each person and situation.

To live up to your Heart -potential, you must show an awareness of the others need.

A unified meditation, such as is done all over the world on the day of the Wesak, moves mountains!

May 2009: Framed by Mercury Rx

Mercury Retrograde is a time when rickety situations break down, and when everyone seems to be thinking about one thing while doing another. – Gloria Star

Hi Everyone, how are you doing? Did you know that Mercury stationed Retrograde today (May 7, 2009 at 1:01am EDT)? I have been creating all kinds of classic Mercury Retro errors in the past week or so: messing up scheduled dates and times, forgetting things more than usual, communication mix-ups especially in email. Maybe Mercury Retro is just an excuse we can use to let ourselves off the hook for absentmindedness. All I know is I am feeling a bit retrograde myself lately! (For an explanation of Mercury Retrograde go to

Mercury Retro occurs 3-4 times per year, and may be more of a Trickster this time because its standstill occurs within the doorway of a very powerful Wesak Full Moon in Taurus/Scorpio, which occurs on May 9, 2009 at 12:01am EDT. (I will explain what Wesak means below, scroll down for more info).

Scorpio is an intense sign and the Full Moon in general is a very intense thing. When you add in the heightened spiritual energies of Wesak – which are nudging us to deeper levels of evolution and higher levels of enlightenment -things can boil over, especially emotionally.

Mercury Retrograde
provides a frame for several important astrological events taking place in May 2009. From our perspective here on Earth, Mercury stops and turns around to go backwards beginning today, May 7; then it moves backwards until May 30. Within that time bubble we have some noteworthy energies in motion:

May 11, 2009: new moon the Midpoint of the 6th Day of the Mayan Calendar according to the system of Carl Calleman. (To read my previous newsletter on the 6th Day click here: This day is known as the Rebirth Celebration. Calleman writes: “In May 2009 a major emanation from the Hunab-Ku, an unfathomably large intelligence in the center of the universe according to Mayan Cosmology, will inform a magnificent birth of cosmic proportions.” The Rebirth Celebration reveals a synchronous dovetailing of the spiritual renewal energies from the East (Wesak) and the same renewal energies from the West (Mayan) – occuring only 2 days apart in May 2009. I believe it is Divine Timing. To read two articles by Carl Calleman on the Rebirth Midpoint of the 6th Day go to: To sign up for a global meditation honoring this moment go to:

May 24, 2009 – The New Moon in Gemini. This new beginning moment adds more Trickster mercurial enlightenment opportunities to the month, just before the most weighty of this month’s events…

May 27, 2009 – The Crowning Event of the month. Astrologers have been talking about the conjunction of Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron for months now. It takes place on May 27, 2009 and is already tightening as we speak. What’s interesting is that all 3 of the planets involved in this ‘Aquarian meeting’ will station retrograde within a week of its occurence. That is what’s known as an “oomph factor.” (I just made that up, I think:) As with any astrological signature, this triple conjunction has both a higher consciousness usage level, and a lower consciousness usage level. Most of us will operate with a little of both, being human and all of that:) How you experience it depends upon how you personally react to the incoming light and information. You may not feel it at all, it just depends.

It’s important to note that this conjunction is historic: for starters, a conjunction of Neptune and Jupiter in the sign of Aquarius only happens every 165 years. Adding Chiron to the mix only makes it more rare. So the last time we had an astrological signature like this was in 1843, and the next time will be 2176.

I will explore this conjunction further in an upcoming newsletter. For now, here’s a teaser: Barbara Hand Clow says that Chiron and Neptune serve to “bring the higher self into space and time” where we can become both grounded into our true natures under Chiron’s influence, and fully aligned with our higher self (Neptune) at the same time. Add Jupiter (Mr. “I Expand Whatever I Touch” Midas Fella) and you get the possibility of an abundance of this kind of spiritual evolution. Scabbed-over wounds might open up to be cleaned – some salt may even be thrown around – in order to facilitate this process.

You ready for that? Good!
